- Hospitalist Care
We're Here For You During A Hospital Stay
We are committed to consistently delivering high-quality patient care. Among the many people helping us to meet this important goal are our hospitalists. These local doctors have the knowledge and experience to care for the unique needs of hospitalized patients.
While you are a patient at Brigham City Community Hospital, you may be referred to a physician known as a Hospitalist. These are doctors who devote their practice exclusively to caring for hospitalized patients. They care for patients who have been referred from community-based primary care physicians or other physicians at the hospital.
Why is a Hospitalist caring for me?
Your primary care physician may have requested that a Hospitalist be in charge of your care during your hospital stay. Or, you may not have had a preference for a doctor while in the hospital, and a Hospitalist was subsequently assigned to care for you. In this way, you have the benefit of being seen by a doctor whose practice is entirely focused on the care of hospitalized patients. Hospitalists also help enable your primary care doctor to be more available to you in general.
What can I expect from the Hospitalist?
The Hospitalist will direct your care and will oversee your treatment daily while you are in the hospital. The Hospitalist is available to you and your family to answer questions and discuss your care. The Hospitalist will make arrangements for any prescriptions you may need when you are discharged. You may be asked to make an appointment with your primary care physician soon after discharge. If you do not have a primary care doctor, the hospital will refer you to a doctor for your outpatient care. You will not see the Hospitalist for outpatient care.
How does the Hospitalist work with my primary care doctor?
The Hospitalist will be in contact with your primary care doctor when you are admitted to the hospital, during your stay, and at discharge, as needed. Your primary care physician can provide information to the Hospitalist about your past health history medications, and special needs. At discharge, the Hospitalist will prepare a detailed report of findings and a follow-up treatment plan for your primary care physician.
Will I see other specialists while in the hospital?
The Hospitalist can arrange for specialty consultation as the need arises. Be sure to let the Hospitalist know if you have already been seeing specialty physicians on staff at Brigham City Community Hospital.
